Want More Security? 3 Benefits Of Using Home Automation

Approximately 2,000,000 homes are burglarized each year in the US, and 30 percent of burglars get into the home through an unlocked entrance, such as a window or a door. If you are worried about security for your home, there are many ways you can keep yourself and your family safe. One of these ways is by using home automation. There are many benefits of choosing to use this for your home, three of which are listed below.

Able to Control Lighting and Appliances

With home automation, you can control the lighting in your home, as well as your appliances. You can do this through a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer, no matter where you are. This will allow you to have the lights turned on while you are gone, or you can turn off appliances that you forgot to turn off.

You also can turn the lights on and off periodically. This is beneficial as a burglar would think no one was home if the lights stayed off all night every night. Having the lights come on will make them think someone is in the house and they would be more apt to stay away.

Able to Put Automated Locks on Doors

You may forget to lock the door when you leave for work. Besides this, if you have children and you leave before they leave for school, they could easily run out the door without locking it.

To take care of this problem you can use automated door locks on all your entrance doors. This works by logging into the home automation service and tapping on an icon on the screen. When you tap this icon, a menu comes up, and you have the option to lock your door. You can choose the door that you want to lock or have it automatically lock every door.

Able to See Outside

Part of a home automation system is using security cameras outside. The security cameras are connected to a computer inside your home, and you can turn it on anytime you want to look outside. Put more than one security camera so you can have a view of the entire front yard. If you see someone outside creeping around this gives you time to call the police.

This is also beneficial if you have children playing outside. You can easily watch them and still be able to stay inside and do other things.

Talk with a home automation services company to learn much more about this type of security for your home.
